About this yacht
ELEUTHERIA is an exceptional Hallberg-Rassy. She benefits from having spent most of her life in the Great Lakes. She was delivered to her first owner at the Hallberg-Rassy yard in Ellos, Sweden in 2005. This owner took a year to sail from Sweden across the Atlantic to the Caribbean, and then north and west into the Great Lakes. ELEUTHERIA was used seasonally on Lake Superior (2007 to 2020), then Lake Erie (2020 to 2022). She has since been used seasonally on Lake Ontario. Each winter she has been hauled and covered. The current owner purchase ELUETHERIA in 2017.
In 2001, Hallberg-Rassy began building the HR43; the first in a new generation of Frers-designed cruisers with a significant improvement in sailing performance over the prior generation Frers-designed Hallberg-Rassy 42. The new design benefits from extra waterline length, increased volume aft, greater form stability, more efficient keel and rudder, and increased sail area. This is most notable in light air where the increased power and easier driven hull will really be apparent to anyone who has sailed on an older Hallberg-Rassy design. Relative to the HR42F, the cockpit is larger and deeper. The aft stateroom is massive; indeed, it’s larger than on an HR46. The forward stateroom has an impressive array of storage lockers and the forward head has a huge, separate stall shower. With 150 HR 43s built between 2001 and 2008, this model is recognized as a modern offshore cruising classic. ELEUTHERIA is hull No. 109 of this model. In 2008, minor changes were made to the deck and interior of the HR43 and the design continued in production as the HR43 MkIII until 2016 when it was replaced by a new model; the Hallberg-Rassy 44.
