Sell Your Yacht
Your listing, presented properly.
A boat sells on how well it is presented and how honestly it is priced. Both are work, and both are where most listings quietly fail.
The process
Four steps, no mystery.
- 01An honest opinion of value
What she is actually worth today, from comparable boats that sold rather than comparable boats that are listed. The second number is always higher and it is the reason boats sit.
- 02Getting her ready
What to fix before she goes on the market and, more usefully, what not to bother with. Jeff can run the work himself — he knows which yards on 17th Street do what well.
- 03The listing presentation
The document that does the selling. Specification, service history, condition, and the detail most brokers leave out. Buyers arrive informed rather than suspicious.
- 04Survey, negotiation, closing
Where a sale is usually lost. Fewer surprises at survey means a shorter negotiation and a deal that actually closes at something near the agreed number.

It was just such a pleasure to read an overview with such depth and concise information… I didn’t think it possible but the overview PDF you sent was even more informative!!
The difference
What an accurate listing presentation contains.
Most are photographs with a spec table bolted to the back.
They answer almost none of the questions a serious buyer has. Service history in detail rather than as a reassuring adjective. Which systems have been replaced and when. What the last survey found and what was done about it. Hours on the mains, and the hours that matter more, on the generators.
None of it is difficult to assemble. It is simply work, and it is work that benefits the buyer rather than the person writing the document — which is why it usually does not get done.
It is also the thing Jeff’s clients mention most often, unprompted, years afterwards.
Proof
Boats that actually sold.
288 recorded sales at Gilman between 2015 and 2025, the brokerage Jeff runs.

Valuation
What is your yacht worth?
Not an instant online estimate — an opinion from someone who has sold over a thousand boats and will tell you if the number you were hoping for is not the number.
