Founded in 1966 by Ted Irwin — a prolific American sailor, designer, and entrepreneur — Irwin Yachts grew to become one of the largest sailboat manufacturers in the U.S. Irwin’s designs were known for combining solid sailing performance with spacious, comfortable interiors, making them popular among both coastal and long-distance sailors. This Irwin 38 Center Cockpit, FREE SPIRIT, is a prime example: a robust, versatile vessel with ample liveaboard amenities, specifically designed with bluewater cruising in mind. FREE SPIRIT is powered by a 50 hp Yanmar 4JH3 with 8,300 hrs, a fully battened Mainsail and furling Genoa.
