Neptunus 650E: Bespoke Luxury Redefined With Galley-Aft Innovation

Neptunus Yachts showcases the 2026 650E with a revolutionary galley-aft design and seamless indoor-outdoor entertaining spaces.

Custom Canadian Yacht Builder Debuts Entirely New Interior Layout In Proven 66-Foot Hull

Last August, the team at Neptunus Yachts in St. Catharines, Ontario invited us to experience their latest creation, a 2026 650E moored at their Lake Ontario marina. While the hull design traces its lineage to the proven 650 platform reviewed here in 2016, this new iteration represents a complete reimagining of interior architecture and layout. Neptunus builds bespoke yachts, and no two vessels that leave their facility are identical. Each is tailored to the owner's lifestyle, preferences, and cruising ambitions, finished to their exact specifications. Beyond optional stabilization systems, there are virtually no upgrades or options, only a complete yacht equipped with the finest materials and systems available.

Jan Willem De Jong, Managing Director at Neptunus, greeted us dockside as the 650E sat ready for evaluation. The yacht commands attention even from a distance. Custom stainless-steel hardware gleams in the sunlight, while the half-inch thick teak strip decking speaks to the builder's commitment to quality. Eight massive mooring cleats and cross-tie cleats at the stern, combined with heavy-duty railings and lighted stairways, convey the substantial engineering beneath the elegant exterior. The carbon fibre hydraulic swim platform is impressively large, capable of supporting an 850-pound dinghy, though this particular owner plans to use it primarily for swimming and entertaining guests at his Florida waterfront home. The cockpit features a large curving aft bench seat surrounding an elegant high-gloss mahogany table mounted on stainless-steel stanchions. An electric shade can be deployed for weather protection. The 650E's defining feature is its entirely new galley-aft interior layout with a centre walk-around island that maximizes the 16 foot 7 inch beam. The spacious cockpit flows seamlessly into the galley and living spaces, creating one continuous entertaining zone. Three leather chairs on stainless-steel pedestal bases can be relocated from the galley island into the cockpit, where the island countertop swings up to extend serving and food preparation space. The cockpit itself accommodates six at the mahogany table, plus a wet bar and built-in BBQ grill.

Entering the salon reveals a sweeping portside credenza housing a beverage centre and barista-quality Jura coffee system alongside abundant storage. A custom-built Sony flat-screen television sits within a black finished wooden surround, accented by blue ambient lighting that reflects onto the interior. The Bose 5.1 surround sound system sits beneath the display, while a Fusion stereo handles outdoor music. All interior blinds are Hunter Douglas products. The cabinetry throughout is stunning, with matched-grain walnut doors and drawers finished under fourteen coats of high-gloss varnish. Walnut trim continues around windows and throughout the yacht. Custom hardware is exceptional, particularly the many stainless-steel handrails wrapped in French-stitched leather that matches the seating. An L-shaped sofa on the starboard side includes removable armrests for lounging, and a custom glass coffee table houses two matching hassocks that serve as both seating and storage. Abundant side glass brings in natural light, with some ports opening and screened. Recessed LED ceiling lights provide night illumination, while a massive electric sunroof opens the space to the outdoors on fair weather days. Easy-care hardwood flooring completes the salon. Power switches positioned beside the cockpit door allow occupants to shut down systems as they depart. The triple-slide glass door with screens is a work of art in stainless steel and glass. The chef will appreciate the new galley-aft layout, which is both sunny and social while being beautifully equipped. Fisher and Paykel appliances include a 4-burner ceramic induction cooktop, convection microwave, dishwasher, stainless-steel refrigerator and freezer with icemaker, and the beverage centre opposite in the credenza. Quartz countertops provide ample prep space, with additional counter area on the matching island. All drawers feature soft-close mechanisms, and the galley island offers generous interior storage. The deep stainless-steel sink and cooktop have fiddles to prevent items from sliding in rough seas.

At the forward end of the salon to port, the dinette is raised slightly for enhanced views. The versatile galley island stools can be raised and relocated here to provide seating for six, with storage built into the side seating and three additional drawers in the base. The table folds out to create a generous dining surface. Down a few steps beneath the massive windshield, the cabin area houses a guest stateroom in the bow, a mid-cabin to starboard, and the master stateroom aft. Each cabin includes an ensuite head, with the mid-cabin head serving as the day head. All cabins feature hanging lockers and generous storage, but the master is truly gracious in size and layout. Elegant dressers port and starboard, a walk-in closet, two hanging closets, and large hull-side windows with opening ports make this space bright and airy. A 40-inch television, stereo, and additional amenities complete the master suite. The master head features a separate home-sized shower stall and a remarkable polished single-piece ceramic wall. A separate crew cabin with its own washroom, television, and storage includes engine room access. The engine room is beautifully finished with full standing height and excellent organization for serious ocean cruising. A washer and dryer set is built into the atrium. The 650E is constructed to CE Category A (Certified Ocean Vessel) standards, employing vacuum infusion and strategic use of Kevlar and carbon fibre for added strength and lighter weight.

The helm is located on the starboard side of the salon behind massive windshield sections with equally large Hepworth wipers. The Neptunus 650E is equipped with the latest in navigation and safety technology, including dual Raymarine 16-inch multi-function displays with Clear Cruise Augmented Reality navigation. A powerful radar system, separate displays for speed, depth, and wind, plus Simrad Autopilot round out the electronics suite. Twin CAT C18 ACERT engines deliver 1,136 horsepower each, with controls that are surprisingly light and easy to use. The throttle can be adjusted in 50-rpm increments via button control. Leather helm seats are supremely comfortable with a nice footrest, though typically the Neptunus takes you there on autopilot. The companion seat swivels to become one of the salon seats, a clever use of space. The 650E is remarkably easy to drive. From precise dockside maneuvering using the Yacht Controller system to open water cruising, the yacht surges forward with smooth determination. At 80 percent power, it cruises at 27 knots (over 31 mph) with an effortless feel. Maximum speed reaches 33 knots, nearly 38 mph. The ride is comfortable for everyone aboard. The hull design and mechanical systems are top-notch, while the bespoke finishes and details will be appreciated for decades. The overall package represents what happens when a builder prioritizes craftsmanship and customization over production volume, creating a yacht that is as individual as the owner who commands her.
